Toybox is meant to be a virtual space where players can play with virtual toys. This originally exists because I wanted to be able to play around and prototype things in Godot Engine, while also producing a sharable thing. As I was sitting on this project though I realized it could possibly have more value and impact beyond "prototype scrap heap". Toys in real life have an unfortunate relationship with the ecosystem. Toys are mostly made of plastic, they're played with for a while but eventually become boring or broken, then thrown away. There are toy donations for sure, but most of these things are made of fossil fuels and with the intent of being scrapped so the next family buys a new one again.

So Toybox is currently at least 2 things. It's a prototype playground/showcase, but it also is a mobile-game for kids. The mobile-game space for children has been horrid, so I'm hoping to make this game a good example. No ads, no microtransactions, no data-harvesting or tracking. Just virtual toys.

As I was making this I saw a third opportunity however. It's Free and Open Source, and Godot Engine (the software/tool to make it) is also Free and Open Source. This could turn into a neat hub of other developers prototypes as well. So I fleshed out the Readme.md on the github page a bit with instructions on how to make and add a toy, as well as some rules on what defines a toy. Also the comment style on here is set to Discussion/Forum mode, so people could possibly form requests, share ideas, collaborate and other fun people helping people things. Time shall tell...

CONTROLS

The game is targeted for Mobile Touchscreen devices, however it also works with a Mouse.

Left-Click/Tap and Drag the floor to Pan the Camera.

Right-Click/Two-Finger Tap and Drag the floor to Rotate and Zoom the Camera.

On valid "PickupPhysics" objects, Click and Drag quickly to quickly be able to lift and move them around, then release to let go. If you Hold a Click or Tap long enough the advanced controls appear, allowing you to Move, Raise/Lower, or Rotate.
