Hello!

It has been 2 months since I shared progress here on itch. What started as a total whatever game jam project now actually feels like a real thing. Right now Flicky Bee is in pending review for being published on PlayStore and iOS App Store! A Large amount of work was put into the game to meet those stores standards of quality. I will add links and make an announcement post when they're ready!

I'm going to try to recall all the significant changes here, but in case I forget something, the commit history on github should help fill in the gaps.

  • UI Facelift
    • Honey Colored Gradient theming
    • Rounded Buttons
    • Icons
  • Menus
    • Main Menu
    • Idle Parallax Background
    • Menu Song by Kenney
    • Edit Menu
    • Hosts all the unlockable customizations
    • Settings Menu
    • Options to disable shadows or extra clutter like grass and pebbles (more for mobile).
    • Help Menu
    • Offering the simple tutorial, or links to Privacy Policy and Website.
    • Privacy Policy is more for the mobile versions, but eh just leave it in.
  • Customization
    • You can unlock things with Honey Points!
    • Earn Honey Points by playing the game, the further you go the more you get!
    • Hats to protect your bee from the harsh sunlight.
    • Trails to look fast and cool.
    • Flowers, because you're a bee... and you like flowers...
  • Gameplay
    • Dragonfly enemy (that might have already been there)
    • Bounce Buds, you bounce off them
    • Windhooks, they blast you forward
    • Added a difficulty scale curve, so things get a little more interesting the further you go.
    • Added some well needed junk collection code to save some memory.


Future Plans

Yeah I want to spice up the Gameplay a bit more, and add some more accessories. I have some ideas that would alter the gameplay so much that I might need to make different areas. Maybe like a City Garden, or a Swamp? However, this project only ever went this far because of strange buyer's remorse. I used to work on the Card Combo project, and was the going to take care of hosting it on PlayStore and App Store. When I left that project though I still had access to these services I paid for and wanted to get SOMETHING out there.

Basically, I might switch priorities over to other projects that might provide more towards my portfolio than update this. But still it could happen. I once heard that apps on App Store have to be updated every 90 days anyway, so heck maybe I'll have a monthly Accessory update to keep everything in motion.

I never checked the analytics on any of my dev logs, so I don't know exactly how empty the void is that I shout into... but either way
